Diving Byron Bay

When you come to Byron Bay there are a few activities that are guaranteed to give you the wow factor.

A snorkel trip to Julian Rocks Marine Reserve is one of them.

Byron Bay Dive centre are the professionals to take you for your first snorkel. Your $69 fee includes: boat ride, equipment hire (mask, snorkel, fins and wetsuit) and a free snorkel lesson. At all times while snorkelling you are supervised by qualified dive staff.

There are also a number of Dive Courses available ranging from:

 Introductory Dive Course

This course takes approximately 5 hours to complete. The course includes equipment hire, one swimming pool lesson and one dive at the Julian Rocks Marine Reserve with an instructor. Intro Diver Courses start 6:30am, 9.30am and 12.30pm every day.

If you have always wanted to try scuba diving this is the course for you, no experience is necessary.

 

Open Water Diver

The Open Water course takes three days to complete. The course includes equipment hire, tuition, swimming pool lessons, 4 scuba dives and a snorkelling lesson at Julian Rocks Marine Reserve.

Once certified you will be able to dive independent of an instructor, at any dive shop anywhere in the world. Open Water courses start 8am every Tuesday and Friday.

A recreational diving medical may be required dependent upon your medical history. If required, the medical should be completed prior to the first day.

This course runs every Tuesday and Friday.

 

Free Diving Course – Level 1

The SSI Freediving Level 1 program will take you deeper than you’ve ever been on a single breath, it will give you with opportunity to explore the ocean depths like never before.

Freediving Level 1 is for anyone with desire to explore, from the complete beginner to an experienced spearo, from anyone just wanting to snorkel the shallows to the extremist wanting to achieve great depths, the SSI freediving program will give you the foundation to reach your goals.

Scuba Diver

The Scuba Diver certificate starts every Tuesday and Friday and only takes 2 days to complete. The course includes equipment hire, tuition, swimming pool lessons, and two scuba dives at Julian Rocks Marine Reserve.

This course certifies you to dive with a dive professional anywhere in the world.  Also you can upgrade this certificate to Open Water level anywhere in the world by completing the difference (ie. 2 swimming pool lessons, 2 dives and theory). Scuba Diver courses start 8am every Tuesday and Friday .

Referral Open Water Course

Why not complete all your theory and confined water sessions (classroom and swimming pool) while in Byron Bay. You can then choose an exotic location anywhere in the world to complete your four open water dives (within the next twelve months).

The Referral Open Water Course takes advantage of the Byron Bay Dive Centre’s purpose built scuba education facility which combines a multimedia classroom with a dive training pool heated to a minimum of 26 degrees Celsius. Let our instructors give you the best preparation for your diving adventure so you will feel safe no matter what country you choose to complete your Open Water certification.

Refresher Diving Course

If you love diving but it has been a while since your last dive you will need to complete a scuba refresher course. This course will re-introduce you to important scuba skills and procedures.

The scuba Refresher starts every day and takes approximately 5 hours to complete. The price includes equipment hire, one swimming pool lesson and one dive at the Julian Rocks Marine Reserve with an instructor. Refresher Courses start at 6:30am, 9.30am and 12.30pm every day.

 Advanced Open Water Course

Take your diving qualifications a step further by completing the Advanced Open Water course.

The advanced course takes 3 days to complete and includes specialty dives such as Boat diving, Underwater naturalist, Navigation diving, Drift diving and Deep diving.

Next course: First weekend of every month (Friday, Saturday and Sunday)

 Rescue Diver Course

Increase your skills and confidence with the Rescue Diver course.

The Rescue course takes four days to complete. This course includes classroom sessions, 2 pool sessions and 4 boat dives.

The rescue course is divided into two components. The first deals with recognising and avoiding stress whilst engaged in diving activities and hence avoiding rescue situations. The second component deals with rescue management and the initiation of rescues. Please note, to be certified as a rescue diver you must have a current first aid certificate. Dive Master

The PADI Divemaster course is your first level of professional training. Working closely with a PADI Instructor, you’ll fine-tune your dive skills, like perfecting the effortless hover, and refine your rescue skills so you anticipate and easily solve common problems. You’ll gain dive knowledge, management and supervision abilities so you become a role model to divers everywhere.

The course takes place over two fun and challenging weeks and includes tuition, course materials, membership with PADI and any equipment you require for the duration of the course.
